The Hanging Of Judas Iscariot 1

Here is the underpainting to The Hanging Of Judas Iscariot. Venetian red, yellow ochre, a bit of nickel titanate yellow in the gold areas, black and white. I love venetian red more and more and it's rapidly becoming my red of choice. This painting proves just how intense this earth colour can be.

Looking good Mark.

That is a beautiful glowing deep red - lots of interesting stuff here, Mark - I'm just perusing a book called 'Quantum Physics cannot hurt you' so interested to read your thoughts on that!

Love it - but wasn't Judas paid in *silver* coins...?

Yes Andrew, oh pedantic one. But the light might be golden and the metal silver aha!? No really, the visual drama demands gold there. Real silver coins would reflect the red and yellow mountains. Yellow and red are needed here I think. That said, this is the underpainting so none of those colours are final, just nearly so.

Quantum physics seems to be about nothing but atoms but I think its action is everywere and in everything. I want to try to explain my ideas someday but it's not easy...
