Wednesday

A few days of disruption end a couple of weeks of disruption due computer problems and now a new PC (and the necessary re-setting up). This new machine has a 3ghz CPU but it's still slower than my 2ghz PC from four years ago which is annoying.

In art, I'm planning paintings. My plans for music were laid aside due to the computer problems.

When I built my first Sinclair Z80, I had 1k of RAM to play with. My 48K Spectrum could play a really mean game of chess. Today the simplest of programs is about 15billion MB to do the most mundane things. I know memory is cheap, but you would think that minimisation and optimisation to make them run faster would be the order of the day.

Sorry Mark, I'm just becomming one of those grumpy old men. Hope you are well?

I am well thank you, I hope you are too? Browsing the Internet on a Sinclair Z80 would be rather ugly though I suppose..! This slowness really is the fault of Microsoft Windows most of the time. I'd get a Mac like a shot if I could get my music software to work on it but I'd need to learn to program all over again on a new machine... lots of work!
