Annunciation

Composition work today and two new pictures. One is a cross between Jan van Eyck's Annunciation and Kandinsky's Composition VII and is relatively complicated. In other news, I can say that Blockx Transparent Mars Red is pretty much the same as Winsor and Newtons's Burnt Sienna. Same pigment, although the Blockx colour is slightly less orange. The difference is slight, so it might be down to pigment density between the brands.

Your thirst for challenge and complexity is marvelous!! It will very interesting to see the hybrid that's born from these two pieces. I've been wondering about the pigments. You may be correct about the saturation difference.

Thanks for sharing your notes on the colors, you big tease... Now I'm sitting on the edge of my seat in anticipation of the unveiling of your painting!

I think it's more of a slight hue shift than saturation. I like the colour lots. I really want to use up my Winsor and Newton one so that I can try the Blockx tube... but that might take a year! I'm chromatically impatient. Don - I'll have the picture finished by then... most probably!
